Rapid Rule Responses
Richard has produced a list of rule queries and our ‘official’ interpretations.
Points Values and VG Charts
Vehicle and gun lists, which although vital to games, take up a lot of space and may include large sections that are irrelevant to some players. VG charts providing details of the most common vehicles and guns used by the WWII Allied and German armies in June 1944 (the general theme of the rule book) are included. More comprehensive lists are available as a free on-line resource. The lists are added to and updated and ultimately we intend to cover every weapon and mode of transport used by anyone, anywhere in WWII. All VG charts follow basically the same layout as those in Rapid Fire! However, as we know that many players like to attach points values to each weapon, vehicle and unit, to help balance opposing forces and determine who has won or lost a game, we have also added points information to the on-line charts. If you require gaming details or points values for any vehicles, guns or units that aren’t included here please let us know. We may already have them in the pipe-line, and if not, we’ll add them to the on-line information. Click on the links below to download the relevant VG charts.

Questions that you may be thinking about the updated rulebook?
Is it just the same old rules?
No. The book is packed with loads of brand new rule systems, plus refinements of old ones, all carefully organised and clearly explained.
So, if I already use Rapid Fire! will I have to learn a whole new set of rules?
No. We think we’ve managed to keep the best of the old rules, blending them into a set that current users can quickly adapt to.
120 pages? Won’t it be slower to play?
Nope. Rapid Fire! is all about fast play and the new set is no exception. We’ve used the extra space to make playing Rapid Fire! even easier and to give players more options.
Will there be ‘grey’ areas?
We’ve spent a lot of time making these rules ultra clear, without bogging them down in too much ‘legal language’. The Order of Play tells you exactly when to apply each rule during the game, while the many photos, diagrams and tables – not to mention the play sheet – help you to understand the systems and start playing: fast.
The old set included some early war scenarios. Will this one?
We’ve concentrated on rules rather than scenarios in the new Rapid Fire! and have ‘themed’ the two demonstration games and the majority of the illustrations to the popular 1944 period. The rules, of course, cover the entire conflict: 1939-1945.
Am I ‘on my own’ once I’ve bought your rules?
We hope not. The newly revised Rapid Fire! web site will continue to grow and include playing aids, articles, news and masses of other material to enhance your games and wargames modelling. And Rapid Fire! is widely used, so finding opponents shouldn’t be a problem.
Errata and Corrections
Even Steven Spielberg managed to get his beach defences the wrong way around in Saving Private Ryan and inevitably a small number of typing and formatting errors have come to light in the rule book and on the playsheet. These can be downloaded on the errata and corrections pdf file. The playsheet pdf download has been amended to remove these gremlins.
